With our in house fabrication, machining and crack testing facilities every aspect of your race car is considered. Everything from engine, drivetrain, brakes, suspension, electronics and data to driver ergonomics can be considered throughout our programs. Linked with our engineering and trackside services we can tailor a package to suit your exact motor racing requirements.

Having the optimum set-up is vital to achieving results. Symes Race Engineering offer an array of suspension and chassis set up services from corner weighting to spring rates to anti roll bars. Whatever your type of suspension, Macpherson struts to push rod wishbone we are keen to discuss your requirements.

With our 35+ combined years of motorsport experience gained across Australia and America, your race vehicle can receive  the care it needs, not only in the workshop but trackside as well. Whether you require extra personnel in your team for a weekend or just want someone else to do all the work  so you can focus on the driving, we would be glad to hear from you.

Our experience in this area ranges from chief engine mechanic for teams like Repco-Matich Formula 5000 to more recent involvements such as our national Commodore Cup campaign. Our teams 'hands on' mechanical knowledge is also backed up by an academic level of automotive engineering. All of this allows us to keep you race vehicle operating at its optimum.

Acquiring and analysing data from a race vehicle can be fundamental in unlocking possible performance increases in both car and driver. Whether you are looking to completely install a new system, upgrade an existing system or just need assistance interpreting what you are seeing we are here to help.

Systems can be as simple or as complex as you like and it is all up to the customer on what data they would like to acquire. A lot of useful information can be uncovered from relatively simple variables such as speed and acceleration; where for a deeper understanding further variables such as damper, steering and throttle position as well as tyre temperature and ride height etc provide a more complex description of the cars behaviour.

We all know how tired and shabby a race car can become after time on the track. Whether your car just needs a quick going over or a full ground up rebuild, we would be glad to help. Linked with our in house machining, fabrication and non-destructive testing facilities your vehicle will receive all the attention it needs during its time in our workshop.

Not all our services are just for your car, we also offer a driver coaching service to help improve your skills behind the wheel. Whether you are already competing or want to get involved, our service can help you reach the podium. There are many different options available, use your own car or hire one of ours. We would be keen to hear from you and discuss your requirements.

Utilising both the wet magnetic particle and liquid penetrate non destructive testing methods, we are able test your components for surface and slightly subsurface discontinuities (cracks) to determine if they need replacing or repairing before being installed in the vehicle. This increases reliability of your race vehicle and greatly reduces the risk of components failing during operation. No job is to big or small, if you have any questions please feel free to contact us.

Our horizontal wet magnetic particle testing machine is capable of accepting components of many different shapes and sizes up to 2.4m in length. Common items include connecting rods, crank shafts, gears, shafts and axles etc. Any component which is constructed from a ferromagnetic material can be tested using this method. Materials include iron, nickel, cobalt, and some of their alloys.

At Symes Race Engineering we are capable of designing and manufacturing a race vehicle to suit your requirements. It could be anything from a hill climb car to a national level competition vehicle, open wheel to a touring car we are ready to discuss your requirements and develop a solution.
